Should I make the switch??

VS

I am becoming increasingly frustrated with Blogger.  When I first started using Blogger it seemed to work great, but lately I've been having many issues.  The most recent are being unable to comment on blogs using gmail and now I can no longer add a gadget using HTML/Java script.
I've noticed lately that a lot of blogs are switching to WordPress and I'm considering trying to switch too.  If I decide to make the switch, does anyone have any comments, suggestions or sites that may help with that transition??

I have several friends who love Word Press, but unless Blogger starts completely deleting my blog posts, I am too lazy to learn a new format. I think you should give Blogger another chance but let them know they will be on probation after the next screw up.

I think, for the most part, the problems happen when Blogger updates their apps or adds new programs. I have updated to "Google Chrome" and have not had the problems that I have seen other's post.

So much to learn. That is a scary thought that they would delte our post. I dont know much about other sites and hoping all the issues with blogger will work out.

I too, have updated to Google Chrome and do not seem to be having those pesky problems anymore.

I went ahead and set up a Word Press blog, just in case. I didn't find it at all difficult, but I also don't find it as much fun as being on Blogger. I was able to transport a lot of my posts to the Wordpress site. So I'm prepared, just in case!

I do use Google Chrome. Not sure what to do, thanks for all your comments, I really appreciate your feedback.

I really get frustrated at blogger at times, but I don't know about changing. I just got this one down...I think.

I'm thinking about switching over too. For me the issue is keyword searches. People on Wordpress get a lot more hits with a lot less effort. I would be afraid though of losing the following we already have and learning a new format seems like an ugly waste of time. Keep us posted on what you decide.

I switched from Blogger to WP (self hosted) a few years ago, and I'm very happy. There's definitely a learning curve, though. I wrote a series called How Do I Get a Blog? On my tech blog theoldergeek.com. Maybe the information from that will help you ake up your mind.

You won't want to hear this but I was actually trying to read your latest blog post and Blogger 1st of all told me that you didn't exist. I said, don't be silly and I tried again and found myself down here. I'll return to the top to see if your new post has appeared in a minute but 1st I wanted to add that I tried commenting on Blogger blogs using Internet Explorer when I got my new Netbook and it was rubbish, kept asking me to sign in again and again. Google Chrome is much better. I've thought of swapping but wonder if it would mean starting all over again with followers etc. That would be a real drag.

Monica,

If you win a copy of the ebook I'm giving away on my blog, then at least you'll have some education into how to migrate. I haven't decided if I can justify the financial outlay (probably $100 or so per year to self-host and then whatever is spent on buying a theme.)

Thanks for entering and my fingers are crossed for you. I've also started following you.

I've been considering this myself as my blog has only been launched since April 1 and my thinking is that it might be better to switch sooner than later, but for now I'm sticking with Blogger.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Here's the link to what I got at the auction if you'd like to see. http://theoldblockhouse.blogspot.com/2011/06/auction-finds-i-was-so-excited-about.html

I have similar HTML issues with blogger. I can't even see GFC on any blogs anymore! And to comment on some blogs I have to hit 'Post Comment' 4 or 5 times.
