Living Green, One Tip at a Time - (a weekly feature)

Tip #29
Strive for a litter free lunch!

When packing a lunch for yourself or your family, strive to make it litter free.

  • Use reusable containers for your sandwich, leftovers, fruit or snack. (An added bonus of a rigid container is it protects the more squished sandwiches)
  • Use a reusable drink container.
  • Tuck in a reusable fork and spoon, wrapped in a cloth napkin
  • Carry it all in a reusable bag.
Check out this great website for more tips and the financial gain associated with a garbage free lunch.
It's really easy and it makes an enormous difference to the environment.
Remember the 3-R's
  • Reduce
  • Reuse
  • Recycle

You know, have you ever done an article on couponing and GMO foods? That would be cool! I'd like to see your perspective on both subjects since the companies that are offering coupons usually have GMO's and pesticides in their food.

Great tips by the way. I use glass dishes for my lunch box. BPA free.

Some good suggestions Shelly, they would both be great topics!!
You're correct, glass or BPA free plastics are the way to go.

Thanks for stopping by and linking up in Exposure 99% weekday hop. I checked your twitter and observed you have privacy. You set your twitter account in a way one has to request for a friendship. I will advise you to make your twitter account public so that people will follow you willing without going via approval request. That is why you are having problem linking up your twitter. Once you make it public, kindly link back again. Let me know if you have any questions. Hope you have a great week.

Going recyclable is always best! We do that when we can.
I can't recall from what date the companies began making all the plastics,Tupperware, foodware, BPA free. Do you by any chance have that information?
My cupboards are overcrowded with old plastic containers. I'd like to know which one to keep and which to throw out.
