Even I have my limits!!

Anyone who knows me, even a little, will attest to how much I love my cats.  They run our household and are way beyond spoiled.

However, even I have my limits, especially when it comes to my coffee.  I'm very protective of my coffee and drink several cups a day!

Well, today I was puttering around the house and catching up on some weekly chores.
I sat my coffee on the island while I went down to put on a load of laundry, came back up stairs and...you guessed it...my 12 year old cat was up on the island... (an offence in itself)... and merrily DRINKING MY COFFEE!

PHOTO FROM GOOGLE FILES
After I chased her down from the island and dumped out my coffee, I started thinking....
  • I wander how many years this has been going on?
  • How many cups of coffee I have unknowingly ...shared??...with her?
This explains so much....
  • Why she sometimes races through the house like she's being chased by a chariot full of devils...too much coffee!
  • Why she jumps up the door frames, often nearly reaching the top...too much coffee!
  • Why she's up all night, roaming around the house...too much coffee!

I guess if I don't want to share my java...which by the way I drink black, so she wasn't after any cream or sugar... with my little feline friend, I'll have to keep it in a travel mug and carry it with me at all times!!

~ CLOSED ~ Reunion Island Coffee, Review and Giveaway

Anyone who knows me can attest to my great love for coffee. We always grind our own beans and make a 14 cup pot to start our day. Yes, you read that correctly, 14 cups!!  However, I don't drink it all, my husband works from home and I share it with him!
Reunion Island Coffee  is celebrating Rainforest Alliance Week September 19-23, 2011. To help promote awareness and to share in the festivities I recently tested their Rainforest Alliance Certified, Costa Rica, La Hilda Estate, whole bean coffee.

For information on Rainforest Alliance Certified products, please watch this short video.

When my review package arrived, as soon as I opened the box, I could smell the delicious coffee aroma.  I was already looking forward to the next morning when I could taste this heavenly smelling coffee.
I always try to be environmentaly conscious and supporting sustainable farming is just one way to help our planet thrive.
Reunion Island has a similar philosophy and they searched for a coffee that would meet their flavour and quality preferences while being sustainably farmed  They found that coffee at the La Hilda Estate in Costa Rica`s Central Valley region.  This Rainforest Alliance Certified farm benefits from rich volcanic soil, high altitude and four generations of coffee growing experience.
I am not a coffee connoisseur by any means, but the resulting coffee is clean and balanced. When I took my first sip I could taste honey and a slight nutty flavour, the coffee left no after-taste, just a crisp sweetness.
If you are looking for a great cup of medium bodied coffee, look no further, this is the coffee for you!
My review package...love the coffee and have already used the travel mug several times!

Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) - The Silent Killer

Myth 5: My blood pressure is high only because I drink so much coffee.
Caffeine’s effect on the body, and particularly blood pressure, is still widely debated. Studies have shown that for people who don’t have caffeine on a regular basis, drinking coffee, tea, some soft drinks, chocolate and headache remedies may cause blood pressure to go up – but only temporarily. Researchers have noted a significant increase in blood pressure of 2.4 mm Hg systolic (the upper number) and 1.2 mm Hg diastolic (the lower number) for people drinking an average of five cups of coffee a day.
As well, the body does seem to become tolerant to the effects of caffeine when it is consumed regularly, so the long-term effects on blood pressure are not well-understood. When having your blood pressure taken, you may want to avoid coffee for several hours before in order to get an accurate reading. Talk to your doctor before consuming any caffeine products, including coffee. Caffeine may also aggravate other heart conditions like arrhythmia.
