~ CLOSED ~ Konsyl Fiber Review and Giveaway - Part of Diabetes Awareness Month

Founded in 1934, Konsyl Original is the number one doctor recommended all natural psyllium fibre supplement.  The name Konsyl, comes from its key ingredient: concentrated psyllium.

Psyllium is a bulk forming fiber laxative derived from the outer coating of the psyllium plant seed. It does not come from wheat so it is gluten-free. It is also sugar free, all natural, and safe for celiac patients, diabetics and pregnant and nursing mothers.

Psyllium Fibre is a soluble fibre that has multiple health benefits. We all know the importance of getting enough fibre in our diets and in this day of processed and fast foods, it  is more important than ever to get adequate amounts of fibre in your diet. Konsyl makes this easy with their supplement products.

November is  Diabetes Awareness Month and according to the Canadian Diabetes Association
"...Soluble fibre may help control blood sugar by delaying gastric (stomach) emptying, retarding the entry of glucose into the bloodstream and lessening the postprandial (post-meal) rise in blood sugar. It may lessen insulin requirements in those with type 1 diabetes. Because fibre slows the digestion of foods, it can help blunt the sudden spikes in blood glucose that may occur after a low-fibre meal. Such blood sugar peaks stimulate the pancreas to pump out more insulin. Some researchers believe that a lifetime of blood glucose spikes could contribute to type 2 diabetes, which typically strikes after the age of 40, and more than doubles the risk of stroke and heart disease. The cholesterol-lowering effect of soluble fibres may also help those with diabetes by reducing heart disease
 risks."  1.

Konsyl was kind enough to send me two products to review.  The first one I'm going to tell you about is  -

Features

  • Blend of psyllium fiber and inulin, a soluble prebiotic fiber
  • Stimulate growth of healthy bacteria in the gut
  • Sugar Free
  • Refreshing orange flavour

Benefits

  • Helps to lower cholesterol and stabilize blood sugar levels*
  • Combination of two fibers helps you maintain a healthy digestive balance*
  • Helps you to manage your weight by helping you to feel full and curb cravings*

My Impression
  • Smooth tasting and noticed no grittyness
  • Easy to mix using the covered cup provided
  • Pleasant orange taste
  • Thickened fairly quickly, however, if you add a little more liquid it easily thins it down
I also received a couple handy Konsyl Psyllium Packetswhich contained a single dose of, Konsyl Original Formula Psyllium Fibre, and are great to slip into your lunch bag or purse.

The second product I received was -

Features
  • No sugar or sugar substitutes
  • Easy to swallow
  • Convenient
Benefits
  • Heart healthy formula helps reduce the risk of heart disease by lowering cholesterol
  • Restores regularity
  • Relieves occasional constipation
My Impression
  • The capsules were a little large, however, I found them easy to swallow.
  • Convenient
Summary
I feel strongly we should try to get our daily fibre allotment from a healthy diet of fruits, vegetables and whole grains.   However, when you are unable to, and you wish to supplement your fibre intake, Konsyl makes it very easy!

I learned that the product is all natural & does not contain any hormones, antibiotics, sweeteners, food colors, or flavorings. Not many products out on the market today can boast that.
