Alzheimer's disease and dementia in general, are topics that are near and dear to my heart. I worked on an Alzheimer's/dementia unit of our regional hospital for several years and have learned first hand of the devastating effect of these conditions on both the patient and his/her family.

Hello Monica
ReplyDeleteMy aunt suffered with Alzheimers for many years - she was diagnosed in 1996 and died last year 2011. It was so hard to see all the changes taking place and being unable to halt the progress of the disease. I did write about her quite a few times on Still Waters
She was able to live by herself at home with assistance for quite a while but then it became obvious that she needed a higher level of care.
Thanks for a good post - lots of information there
Take care
Cathy
